More web site stuff

My home grown message board now functions out of the same database as Diagnostics Scotland. I have to do it this way because my free ASP host only provides one ODBC connection. A fairly reasonable restriction, really. I tried to link to tables in separate DBs but apparently ODBC can only do absolute file addressing and not relative and I have no idea what folder my files are kept in on the server.
I haven't decided if or how to link to it from my page as opposed to linking to my Journal message thread so I will concentrate on running other stuff that requires databases out of the same file for the moment. Also, I really must do some reading for my course at some point, even though my site is making huge strides!
PS. The space bar on this PC is fucked.

Further web site update

Altered all links so that the internal links target the top frame and external links open a new window. Exception: my employment page where all links open a new window except the "return to home page" link.

I have been working hard to integrate style sheets into my web page.

It all looked fine at home but it's not too happy on the site. Not too sure whats going on as yet. Anyway I have made some small changes. These include:

  • Altering all my pages (with the exceptions of the tiling patterns pages which need a severe rethink) to be accessible to stylesheet manipulation.
  • I got rid of the title, heading and sub-heading classes and replaced them with H1-3 tags as I should have done in the first place.
  • Setting up a thread on my LiveJournal that people can post messages to it directly from my web page.
  • Exporting all my Yahoo bookmarks to my site so people can look at the same stuff as me. Like they really want to.
  • Adding Diagnostics Scotland and Catering in Scotland to my employment portfolio.
  • Changing the square based backround tiles to the standardised small size.
  • Updating my birthday presents list.
  • Updating the broken Larry Niven link in the scifi page.

I am currently keeping the old style sheet until I can figure out whats going on with it and integrate it properly.

Addendum: Its some problem with the H1-3 tags. Everything else looks okay. We shall see.

Hi There!

I have set this thread up as a general location for people to leave messages for me. You are most likely reading this because you have followed a link from my web site. Please leave a message and I will try to respond in a timely fashion. After that, why not have a look at my journal. From there, you can go back to my home page. And, once again, welcome!
